Moon cake
Moon cake is East Asian regional
Mid-Autumn Festival food. In the ancient time, it was taken as the sacrificial
offering at Mid-Autumn Festival in China.
It is said that the custom of Mid-Autumn Festival eating moon cake
was started from Tang Dynasty, and it was called ‘Palace cake’ at the time. After
it spreads among folks, it became circle and called moon cake as meaning of
gathering and happiness.
Moon cake usually uses wheat flour as the skin, and it can be
filled with various stuffing material to reach different taste.
It is similar to Steamed rice dumplings in dragon boat festival
and sweet dumplings in lantern festival, which are Chinese traditional culture.
