How to make Brown seaweed soup for birthday!

Hi guys~! Today I will show you how to make ‘Miyeok guk’ which is a Korean soup made from the sea vegetable miyeok (also known as brown seaweed in English).
Typically in Korea, woman after giving birth eat this soup because this soup contains high content of calcium and iodine and on birthday we eat this soup reminding thanks to mom for giving birth!!
There are various types of this soup depending on the ingredients which may be beef and/or seafood such as mussels, clams and dried fish.
It is quite easy to make but this is highly nutritious soup so I often make this when I want to eat hot soup.
In here, I will just make with beef.

Let’s start~!

 INGREDIENTS (for 3-4 servings):

- 35g dried brown seaweed (Miyeok)

- 70g sliced beef shank

- 1/2 tbs sesame oil and 3 sprinkles ground black pepper – to season the meat

- 3 tbs soy sauce

- 1 tbs Korean sesame oil

- 2 ts minced garlic

- 4 cups of water

1. Soak the dried brown seaweed in cold water for 5 minutes and rinse the seaweed a couple of times in running water and cut the seaweed with scissors to little finger lengths.

2. Season the beef with 1/2 tbs sesame oil and 3 sprinkles of ground black pepper.

3. Heat up a pan over medium heat for about 30 seconds and add 1 tbs sesame oil, the brown seaweed, and the sliced beef then stir it for 2 – 3 minutes.

4. Add the water then boil it on medium heat until the seaweed and the meat cook for about 5- 10 minutes.

5. Add the soy sauce and garlic, boil it for 2 more minutes.

6. Enjoy it with rice!!
